When applying acupuncture, a needle is used to puncture the acupuncture point to be treated.
The needles used by the acupuncturist vary in length and thickness depending on the patient’s body type and the area on the body to be treated (for the sake of clarity, the “thickest” needle is very thin compared to, for example, a hypodermic needle)
. In accordance with the deontological code of the Belgian Acupunctors Federation, the acupuncturists affiliated with our professional association exclusively use sterile, disposable needles for single use with CE marking. (A product with the CE marking indicates that it complies with European safety and health requirements and standards).
Within the European Union, the use of the CE marking is mandatory for medical devices, such as acupuncture needles.
